Are Two American Political Parties enough?

United States Congress

In today’s society politics has forced many Americans into opposite sides of the spectrum where there is no room more compromise. I disagree with the point that politics is has never been this passionate. Politics has always inspired passion in Americans. This has been the case since the 1790’s where Alexander Hamilton’s Federalists opposed Thomas Jefferson’s Democratic-Republicans. Even during that time period you had news papers like the National Gazette feeding disseminating propaganda based off of its party alliance inspiring the American people to  pick a political side. The big difference between now and than is the willingness to compromise. I feel that this was appearnent when then President Obama had to deal with the Republican led Senate resisting his every move. Now President Trump finds the democrats are using the same playbook. If there were more than two parties that the media would give respectable coverage to,  neither the democrats or the republicans could hold our political system hostage. They would have to find common grounds with the other parties and also the American people would find that with more parties they would a more political fits for their ideals versus having to choose a party because you don’t like what the other party stands for.
